Marty is no stranger to hard work and dedication, having spent 24yrs with the NZ Navy, including Secondments Peacekeeping with the UN. He then moved to Marlborough 20 years ago, purchasing Thymebank (a hydroponic lettuce and herb business), which he went on to grow to a nationally recognised and Trusted Brand, prior to selling the business. He believes that hard work and dedication were the key ingredients to his success. Marty is also an active sportsperson, having represented New Zealand in age group Triathlon and Ironman as a younger man, he has now proved that age is no barrier having again qualified for the Hawaii Ironman World Championships again this year, 30 years since first competing there. Marty is actively involved in establishing and growing Water Polo in the province, which has seen Marlborough teams achieve national honors. He is now transferring his experience and work ethic to growing and strengthening the Harcourts team. Marty believes relationships are the cornerstone to any business transaction. “It’s not necessarily about selling, it’s more about forming relationships, adding value and establishing trust. If someone wants to see me for advice, they don’t have to be selling anything, we can just catch up for a cuppa and a chat”.
Tucked away in one of the most beautiful corners of the Marlborough Sounds, Grant Bay is the kind of place that makes you breathe a little deeper and slow right down. The road in might be a bit rough in places, but there's always the option of coming by boat-and once you arrive, you'll know it was worth the trip. This lovely two-bedroom bach sits on a sun-drenched northwest-facing site where the days unfold to a soundtrack of birdsong and gentle waves. From the deck, you can look out over the bay and beach, with your own mooring ready and waiting below. It's remote enough to feel like a true escape, yet you'll still have cell phone coverage to keep in touch or share the view. There's a shared jetty just down the track, perfect for casting a line, tying up the boat, or watching the sun slip away with a drink in hand. Whether you're after peace and quiet or a place to make memories with family and friends, this spot offers both. If a simpler, slower kind of holiday is calling your name, now's the time.
